Football Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Vestavia Hills + How To Watch

Hillcrest faced Vestavia Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Patriots took a hard 42-24 fall against the Rebels. The Patriots were not able to make up for their loss to the Rebels from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Shambley, who rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 166 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Jacobi Harris, who gained 129 total yards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hillcrest fell to 3-1. As for Vestavia Hills, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Hillcrest will host Hewitt-Trussville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so the Patriots' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Vestavia Hills, they will head out on the road to challenge Thompson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
