MaxPreps and AVCA to Select High School Players of the Week

MaxPreps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) will team up again each week throughout the fall season to select Players of the Week.

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. --- MaxPreps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) are teaming up in an effort to promote high school boys volleyball and highlight accomplishments of student-athletes throughout the entire nation.

The MaxPreps/AVCA Regional High School Boys Volleyball Players of the Week honors eight of the top high school boys volleyball performers each week throughout the United States starting on Monday, March 4.

MaxPreps will serve as the official statistics and results provider for program. The AVCA will select the players each week, based on those statistics provided to MaxPreps.

Each winner receives a certificate and a letterman patch to showcase the honor.

"Every player has the opportunity to win this award. If you have a great week and your coach enters your stats into MaxPreps, you can win." MaxPreps Volleyball Cordinator Megan Nelson said. "You don't have to be on the best team in the nation or even be the best player on your team. This program is unique in that way; every athlete has the potential to get recognized."

MaxPreps publishes schedules, scores and standings for each of the nearly 17,000 schools participating in girls' volleyball across the country. MaxPreps also provides high school coaches with free team pages, statistical software and a variety of other free services.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association, based in Lexington, Ky., is the national leader in volleyball coaching education. With a membership of over 7,000, the AVCA supplies educational materials, creates media content and provides recognition opportunities for coaches and players at all levels of the sport.

For the 2018 campaign, 500 individual athletes were selected. Winners receive a MaxPreps/AVCA branded letterman's patch and recognition on both MaxPreps.com and AVCA.org.

For a player to be nominated, their coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Saturday evening to be eligible for that week.
