Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Marian Dabney and Amy Pickering Lead Milan to Victory

There's no place like home for Milan, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Schuyler County Rams 63-40 on Tuesday. With the Wildcats ahead 41-20 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Leading Milan to victory were Amy Pickering and Marian Dabney. Pickering went 9 of 13 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, while Dabney went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points. Dabney's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Emerson Pauley was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Milan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Milan pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Schuyler County, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milan will square off against Linn County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Schuyler County, they will face off against Putnam County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
