Basketball Recap: Saint Viator Drops Highest Score of Season Against Maine West

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saint Viator). Everything went their way against the Maine West Warriors on Tuesday as the Saint Viator Lions made off with a 58-33 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Lions just coasted through the last quarter.

Saint Viator's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kalin McCrea, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and five boards. That's the most assists McCrea has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Garcia, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

With the victory, Saint Viator broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-5. As for Maine West, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Saint Viator and Maine West could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Saint Viator (ranked 139th) will meet Marian Catholic (ranked 26th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Maine West (ranked 363rd) will meet Highland Park (ranked 152nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
