Basketball Recap: Minarets Comes Up Short

Minarets lost against Fresno Christian back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Minarets Mustangs took a blow against the Fresno Christian Eagles, falling 112-32. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1013th, while the Eagles are ranked 228th).

Despite the loss, Minarets still got an impressive performance from Jabari Gomez, who posted 12 points.

Minarets has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Fresno Christian, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-6.

Looking ahead, Minarets will challenge Yosemite at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Minarets is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Fresno Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Riverdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fresno Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Riverdale likes a good challenge.
