Recap: Meridian Wildcats vs. Brandon Bulldogs
The Meridian Wildcats waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They secured a 56-51 W over Brandon. That's another feather in the cap for Meridian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Brandon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nate White, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ottis Harrison, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Meridian pushed their record up to 20-9 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Brandon, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11.
Meridian will play host again and welcome Gulfport, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Meridian is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Mississippi (they are ranked 20th, while Gulfport is ranked 135th). Brandon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
