Soccer Game Preview: Holmes vs. Harlan

Holmes is 0-8 against Harlan since February of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Holmes Huskies will take on the Harlan Hawks at 7:00 p.m.

Holmes is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Monday. They came up short against Sotomayor, falling 5-0. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly five goals.

Meanwhile, Harlan beat Marshall 3-1 on Monday. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Rams are ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Josh Olivares and Trystan _ scored all three of Harlan's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Harlan is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those nine games. Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Holmes might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Harlan when the teams last played back in January. Can Holmes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
