Basketball Recap: Kankakee Trinity Academy Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Kankakee Trinity Academy extended their home winning streak to 13 games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Cory Hathaway. Kankakee Trinity Academy walked away with a 50-37 win over the HomeSchool Resource Center Patriots on Tuesday thanks in part to Hathaway, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 21 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave him a new career-high.

Johnny Bayarra was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Despite the defeat, HomeSchool Resource Center saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noel Green dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 boards set a new season-high mark for Green. Another player making a difference was Josiah Fisher, who posted eight points and 13 rebounds.

Kankakee Trinity Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for HomeSchool Resource Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kankakee Trinity Academy has already played their next contest (against Donovan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. HomeSchool Resource Center will face off against Marquette Manor Baptist Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Marquette Manor Baptist Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
