Preview: Covenant Christian Cougars vs. Salt and Light Homeschool Eagles
Covenant Christian has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Salt and Light Homeschool Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Covenant Christian can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Legacy Christian Academy 61-15 on the road. Given Covenant Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 583rd, while Legacy Christian Academy is ranked 1391st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Covenant Christian had a senior duo take command as Alani Owens dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten steals and Keeley Chaddick scored 25 points along with three steals. Chaddick hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. Skylar May was another key contributor, scoring no points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Salt and Light Homeschool waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 45-38 victory over CHSA HomeSchool.
Covenant Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season. As for Salt and Light Homeschool, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.
Covenant Christian lost to Salt and Light Homeschool at home by a decisive 54-38 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Covenant Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
