Softball Recap: Sparkman Gets the Win

Sparkman saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels by a score of 5-1.

Kara Burman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Burman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Mayfield, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Sparkman is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Tipton-Rosemark Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparkman will square off against Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tipton-Rosemark Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mobile Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Tipton-Rosemark Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.
