Recap: Teays Valley Christian Lions vs. Spring Valley Timberwolves
If the Teays Valley Christian Lions were feeling good off their 89-54 takedown of the Covenant Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Teays Valley Christian lost to Spring Valley at home by a decisive 80-61 margin on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maki Cary, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine blocks. Cary is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Eli Pendleton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Harrison Riggs, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Adkins, who scored 19 points.
Teays Valley Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Spring Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Teays Valley Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Hope Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Hope Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season. Spring Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in Spring Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
