Baseball Game Preview: Red Springs Red Devils vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes

For the second straight game, Red Springs will face off against Fairmont. The Red Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Golden Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Red Springs took a 16-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fairmont, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Red Devils narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Golden Tornadoes 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red Devils have posted since March 20th.

Xzavier Sinclair made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off 12 hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Taquan TJ Ellerbe was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Red Springs: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Steven McCadney also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fairmont is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16. As for Red Springs, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12.
