Baseball Recap: Clear Lake Gets the Win

Clear Lake hadn't done well against Friendswood recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Clear Lake Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Friendswood Mustangs, sneaking past 4-2. This was payback for the Falcons, who suffered a 5-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Evan Mihaly tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Clear Lake's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Langston Lee, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Jared Jochim also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Clear Lake's victory bumped their record up to 6-3-2. As for Friendswood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Clear Lake and Friendswood's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Clear Lake will face off against Cypress Ranch at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, a team that's only allowed 0.38 runs per game. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Clear Lake: 2.2, Friendswood: 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Similarly, Friendswood and Cinco Ranch (who has only given up 3.29 runs per game) will meet at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
