Basketball Game Preview: Centauri Falcons vs. Yuma Outlaws

The Centauri Falcons will take on the Yuma Outlaws at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Centauri sitting on 25 straight victories and Yuma on four.

Centauri is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Bayfield 61-32. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Yuma posted their closest win since March 9, 2024 on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 47-46 victory over Liberty Common. Given the Outlaws' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Eagles are ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Yuma's win bumped their record up to 20-5. As for Centauri, their victory bumped their record up to 25-0.

Centauri and Yuma were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in March of 2024, but Centauri came up empty-handed after a 35-34 loss. Can Centauri avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
