Preview: Winthrop/Monmouth Academy vs. Oak Hill
On Friday Oak Hill take on Winthrop/Monmouth Academy at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close contest.
Oak Hill gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Yarmouth, sneaking past 21-19. Sophomore Gavin Rawstron, who threw 2 TDs and picked up 45 yards on the ground, was a major factor in Oak Hill's success. In fact, with 10 tackles Rawstron was a force on both sides of the ball.
Meanwhile, Winthrop/Monmouth Academy had to hit the road for their first game, and unfortunately the road hit them back. They ended up on the wrong side of a painful 6-38 walloping at Spruce Mountain's hands.
Oak Hill's win lifted them to 1-0 while Winthrop/Monmouth Academy's defeat dropped them down to 0-1. We'll see if Oak Hill's success rolls on or if Winthrop/Monmouth Academy are able to steal their positive momentum.
