Basketball Game Preview: BASIS Flagstaff Yetis vs. Northland Prep Academy Spartans

The BASIS Flagstaff Yetis will square off against the Northland Prep Academy Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. BASIS Flagstaff knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Northland Prep Academy likes a good challenge.

BASIS Flagstaff is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Dishchii'bikoh just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 70-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game back in December of 2024 (61), the Yetis still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Northland Prep Academy waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took down the Pirates 73-57.

BASIS Flagstaff better keep an eye on Jaden Joiner. He was instrumental in Northland Prep Academy's win, going 9 of 18 en route to 25 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Delani Hanson, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 10 points and four steals.

Northland Prep Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

Northland Prep Academy pushed their record up to 11-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for BASIS Flagstaff, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.

BASIS Flagstaff didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northland Prep Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 65-61 win.
