Basketball Game Preview: Wood River Wolverines vs. Minico Spartans

Wood River hasn't had much luck against Minico recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wood River Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the Minico Spartans at 7:30 p.m.

Wood River is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game on Tuesday. They fell 55-43 to Mountain Home.

Despite the defeat, Wood River saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tony Ambriz posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jake Marenda, who had seven points.

Meanwhile, Minico was able to grind out a solid victory over Burley on Tuesday, taking the game 63-50. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Minico is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Wood River, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Wood River might still be hurting after the 66-40 defeat they got from Minico in their previous matchup back in January. Can Wood River avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
