Baseball Recap: Burns Victorious

Burns won against La Grande on Tuesday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Hilanders came out on top in a nail-biter against the Umatilla Vikings, sneaking past 6-5. The win continues a trend for the Hilanders in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Tyson Breshears made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Burns is undefeated when Breshears allows two or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. Breshears was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Wyatt Sewell was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Amir Schouviller-Kness, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Burns' record is now 5-3. As for Umatilla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Burns will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair will be back at it again later today.
