Basketball Preview: Danvers Falcons vs. Winthrop Vikings

The Danvers Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winthrop Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Danvers and five for the Vikings.

Danvers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-59 to Swampscott.

Despite the loss, Danvers saw an underclassman step up: Kyle Sillars scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sillars has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Logan Metivier, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Winthrop suffered a tough 65-43 loss at the hands of the Chieftains on Friday. While losing is never fun, Winthrop can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while the Chieftains are ranked 141st).

Danvers has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Winthrop, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Danvers and the Vikings were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January, but the Falcons came up empty-handed after a 68-67 loss. Will Danvers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other basketball content.
