Softball Game Preview: Jefferson Yellowjackets vs. West Monona Spartans

The Jefferson Yellowjackets will square off against the West Monona Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Jefferson's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matches, but Monday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jefferson is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since June 28, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Le Mars by a score of 3-1.

Emily Loots spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jefferson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kali Schreiber, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Teygan Rasmussen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, West Monona came up short against MOC-Floyd Valley on Saturday and fell 7-4.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for West Monona, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3.
