Softball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wayne extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 12-1 to Lebanon. Wayne was not able to make up for their loss to Lebanon from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.

Emily Hames was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alanna Myers, who earned one run and two stolen bases.

As for Lebanon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games.

On Lebanon's side, Sophia Sheidler made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Sheidler has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophie Abrams, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2025. Claire Kindell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-5 win against Bellbrook on the 6th. As for Lebanon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 victory against Hoover on the 4th.
