Baseball Recap: Denver City Drops Season-High Score on Smyer

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denver City). They were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over the Smyer Bobcats on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Andres Ornelas was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samrey Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Denver City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in five consecutive games.

Denver City's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Smyer, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Looking ahead, it'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Mustangs face off against the Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smyer, they will challenge Ropes at 4:00 p.m. on March 11th.
