The Carrabec Cobras are taking a road trip to take on the Telstar Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, Carrabec made easy work of Rangeley Lakes and carried off a 17-7 win. The Cobras haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Zack Davis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carrabec is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise. Davis was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Logan Caldwell was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Carrabec is 2-1 when Caldwell posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. Wyatt Scott also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Carrabec always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeley Lakes only posted an OBP of .308.
Meanwhile, Telstar got the win against Buckfield on Wednesday by a conclusive 10-4.
Like Carrabec, Telstar also got a great game from a two-way player: Brennan Walker. On the mound, Walker struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Bryson Walker tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Walker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Bryson went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Connor Deprey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Brayden Easterlin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Telstar is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Carrabec, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carrabec has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Telstar struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carrabec might still be hurting after the 18-7 loss they got from Telstar in their previous meeting on May 3rd. Can the Cobras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
