Preview: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Meigs Marauders
Wellston is 1-9 against Meigs since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wellston Golden Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Meigs Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Wellston is hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Wellston pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 77-63 fall against New Hope Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, Wellston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 762nd, while New Hope Christian Academy is ranked 219th).
Meanwhile, Meigs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Nelsonville-York 52-49. 52 seems to be a good number for Meigs as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Wellston's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Meigs, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.
Wellston came up short against Meigs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 56-49. Can Wellston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
