Soccer Game Preview: St. Vincent's vs. Long County

The St. Vincent's Saints will face off against the Long County Blue Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Monday just wasn't the day for St. Vincent's offense. They came up short against Savannah Country Day on Monday, falling 5-0. The loss was St. Vincent's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Long County had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 goals) and they went ahead and made it nine two weeks ago. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Give Long County's defense some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Ananayely Martinez, who's now up to three this season.

Long County's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven matches. As for St. Vincent's, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

St. Vincent's beat Long County by a goal in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 2-1. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Blue Tide have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
