Softball Recap: Vancleave Bulldogs vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes

Vancleave scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Laurel Golden Tornadoes a 19-0 shutout. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Brooklyn Rhodes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rhodes has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Rhodes was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Naomi Rouse looked comfortable as she pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Carlie Osborne was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, and a double. Marin Wilson was another key contributor, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Vancleave will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Wayne County at 6:30 p.m. Wayne County is coming into the matchup with three straight defeats at home, meaning Vancleave will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. Laurel will take on Gautier at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
