Softball Recap: Buckeye Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Buckeye won the last time they faced Rocky River and things went their way on Monday too. The Bucks blew past the Pirates 11-1. Considering the Bucks have won 12 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

LaRyssa Hartshorn looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Buckeye got a massive performance out of Faith Shaw, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave Shaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Michaels, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Buckeye always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky River only posted an OBP of .286.

Buckeye pushed their record up to 14-3-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Rocky River, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will venture away from home to take on Westlake at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bucks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Rocky River, they are taking a road trip to square off against Valley Forge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
