Basketball Recap: Ayla Stanley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Site over Booneville

After flying high against Saltillo last Friday, New Site came back down to earth. The New Site Royals lost 59-35 to the Booneville Blue Devils on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 15th).

New Site lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ayla Stanley, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Green, who earned three points along with five rebounds and four steals.

New Site's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Booneville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

New Site will take on Jumpertown at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Booneville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-43 victory against Okolona on the 12th.
