Baseball Recap: Burgettstown Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Burgettstown dropped their record down to 11-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McGuffey Highlanders. If the Blue Devils were looking for revenge after losing 9-4 to the Highlanders when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sam Elich was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

As for McGuffey, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On McGuffey's side, Austin Johnson was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burgettstown will take on Fort Cherry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for McGuffey, they will be playing at home against Seton LaSalle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
