University Lab had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the St. Amant Gators with a sharp 8-2 victory on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Cubs as they're now sitting on seven straight dating back to last season.

Phillip Underwood looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaris Hamilton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Mixon, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

University Lab didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Dutchtown on the 10th. As for St. Amant, they have also already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against French Settlement on the 13th.
