Softball Recap: Klein Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Klein lost to Tomball Memorial back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Bearkats had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bearkats.

Madilyn Schultz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paityn Lee, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Meinhardt, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Klein pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Tomball Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Klein will face off against rival Magnolia at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tomball Memorial is set to square off against their familiar foe Klein Oak at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
