Football Recap: Esperanza Comes Up Short

Esperanza extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-3. They took a 21-7 bruising from the Marina Vikings. If the Aztecs were looking for revenge after losing 21-7 to the Vikings when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Travis Frazier threw for 132 yards and one touchdown. Eddie Matthews was his top target, picking up 45 receiving yards. On the ground, Brody Snyder rushed for 26 yards.

As for Marina, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. That looming 21-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

Marina was led to victory by Francis Saporito and Carson Hunnicutt. Saporito threw for 129 yards and a pair of TDs, while Hunnicutt picked up 119 receiving yards.

Esperanza wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-12 victory against Peninsula on the 26th. As for Marina, after each having a week off, they and Sunny Hills will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 2. This will be the Vikings' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
