On Thursday, Lenox Memorial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Greenfield.
Cassidy Flynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Julieano, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Julieano, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Franklin County Tech ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Bristol County Agricultural 4-3.
Franklin County Tech also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Brayleigh Burgh gave up three earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Franklin County Tech saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breanna Kempf, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Franklin County Tech's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Lenox Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Franklin County Tech's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lenox Memorial has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Franklin County Tech, though, as they've only averaged .271. Will they be able to contain Lenox Memorial's hitters?
