Basketball Recap: Mountainside Wolves vs. Highland Prep West HORNETS
Mountainside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Highland Prep West HORNETS 63-12. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite the loss, Mountainside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Clay Brown posted five points and three steals.
Brayden Patton was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and three steals for Highland Prep West. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Aska, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Mountainside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Highland Prep West, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
Mountainside has already played their next contest, a 79-21 loss against Mohave Accelerated on the 31st. As for Highland Prep West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 77-60 defeat against North Valley Christian Academy on the 3rd.
