Basketball Recap: Evansville Memorial Tigers vs. Silver Creek Dragons

If Evansville Memorial was feeling good fresh off their 60-31 takedown of Mt. Vernon last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Evansville Memorial Tigers fell 67-56 to the Silver Creek Dragons on Saturday. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.

Defeat or not, Evansville Memorial got some senior leadership from Luke Ellspermann and Asher Evans. Ellspermann went 8-for-17 to rack up 21 points and seven rebounds, while Evans went 7-for-13 en route to 18 points and three steals. Dylen Kendrick was another key player, putting up two points and seven assists.

Dane Sprigler was his usual excellent self, going 7-for-12 on his way to 22 points along with six boards and four steals for Silver Creek. That's the most rebounds Sprigler has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Hunter, who had ten points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

Evansville Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Silver Creek, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Looking ahead, Evansville Memorial will host Evansville Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Evansville Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for Silver Creek, they will head out to take on Salem at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
