Volleyball Game Preview: Greater Grace Christian Academy Eagles vs. Maryland School for the Deaf Orioles

The Greater Grace Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Maryland School for the Deaf Orioles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Greater Grace Christian Academy managed to slip by Rockbridge Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Scots on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Maryland School for the Deaf entered their tilt with Covenant Life on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 3-1.

Maryland School for the Deaf had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 25-10, 25-18, 25-15.

Greater Grace Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Maryland School for the Deaf, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1.

Greater Grace Christian Academy beat Maryland School for the Deaf 3-1 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
