Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Comes Up Short

If Monroe Central was riding high fresh off their 9-3 takedown of Tri on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Bears lost 15-5 to the Winchester Community Golden Falcons on Saturday. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Golden Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Monroe Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lane Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another was Isaac Middleton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Monroe Central now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Winchester Community, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will challenge Elwood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golden Bears are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Winchester Community, they will face off against Wapahani at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Golden Falcons 3.3, the Raiders 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
