Basketball Recap: Belfry Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Brody Little and Jaxon Estridge

Belfry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 69-51 bruising from the Pike County Central Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-53 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Belfry had strong showings from Jaxon Estridge, who posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and four steals, and Brody Little, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points. That's the most steals Estridge has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carter Jude, who put up six points.

Belfry's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Pike County Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

Coming up, Belfry is taking a road trip to square off against Magoffin County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pike County Central, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against East Carter at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Pike County Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully East Carter likes a good challenge.
