Softball Recap: Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Victorious

While Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts's win against Parkrose wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs skirted past the Broncos 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sage Nuckols made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Shae Remoket and Madison Dean did most of the damage at the plate: Remoket went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Dean went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Remoket has posted since back in April.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts' win bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Parkrose, their loss was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-21.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Broncos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
