Soccer Game Preview: Needville vs. Lumberton

The Needville Bluejays will take on the Lumberton Raiders on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Needville sitting on four straight wins and Lumberton on 17.

Needville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was Needville who was credited with the victory. Needville got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Taylor's two.

Lumberton's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Royal as Lumberton made off with a 5-0 win. Give Lumberton's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

They hit Royal with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Tessa Christopherson (2), Autumn Hopson, Madelyn Walters, and Addison Stewart.

Needville pushed their record up to 15-7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Lumberton, their win bumped their record up to 19-3-1.

Needville suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Lumberton in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Needville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
