After a string of four wins, Thornton Fractional South's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainfield South Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Wolves of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While Thornton Fractional South was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16.

Earehc' Hill paced Thornton Fractional South's offense, picking up seven kills. Hill really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. Layla Smith controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Thornton Fractional South's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Plainfield South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Thornton Fractional South didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Stagg on the 3rd. As for Plainfield South, they will challenge Naperville Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
