Baseball Recap: Staples-Motley Takes a Loss

Staples-Motley was the 6-3 winner over Wadena-Deer Creek when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cardinals fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 7-6 on Friday. The Cardinals just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Staples-Motley saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elijah Kossan, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Kossan has snagged this season. Colbe Tappe was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Staples-Motley's record is now 1-6-1. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

While Staples-Motley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
