Preview: Durant Cougars vs. Wharton Wildcats

Durant is on a six-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Wharton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Durant Cougars will take on the Wharton Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Bloomingdale scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, Durant still came out on top. Durant secured a 62-57 W over Bloomingdale.

Wylde Correa was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Austin White was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Wharton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against King on Friday, but they still walked away with a 38-32 victory.

Wharton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aj Jones out in front who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nick Womack, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Durant's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Wharton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Durant have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 48.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Wharton struggles in that department as they've nailed 46.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Durant was dealt a bruising 76-41 loss at the hands of Wharton in their previous matchup back in February of 2017. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Durant was down 52-19.
