Softball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Has No Trouble Against St. Bede

IC Catholic Prep won the last time they faced St. Bede and things went their way on Saturday too. The Knights were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Bruins. Considering the Knights have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Madelynn Dinino made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Lexi Russ was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Sofia Bucaro was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

IC Catholic Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for IC Catholic Prep and bumps their season record up to 16-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for St. Bede, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Looking ahead, IC Catholic Prep will challenge Timothy Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for St. Bede, they will welcome Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 27th straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight.
