Basketball Recap: Westin Madden and Noah Burns Secure Win for Valley Christian

Valley Christian won the last time they faced Mary Walker and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Valley Christian Panthers blew past the Mary Walker Chargers 69-48. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Valley Christian to victory were Noah Burns and Westin Madden. Burns went 6 for 14 on his way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Madden posted 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Burns' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Peter Rehwaldt, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Mary Walker lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Andru Pinyan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 19 rebounds. Pinyan is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Marc Andrew was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The win (which was Valley Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 14-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 31.7% in those games and 29.4% outside of them. As for Mary Walker, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Valley Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-43 victory against Republic on the 31st. Mary Walker has also already played their next game, a 55-54 win against Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame on the 30th.
