Baseball Recap: Blue Ridge Triumphs

Blue Ridge hadn't done well against Seneca recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fighting Tigers had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Fighting Tigers have posted since February 28th.

Brady Smouse was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Blue Ridge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Corbin King also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Blue Ridge now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Seneca, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue Ridge will welcome Broome at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Seneca, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Berea at 6:30 p.m.
