Softball Recap: Quincy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Quincy waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Maxwell Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-2 on Friday.

Jemma Trueblood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Molly Newton and Addison Gay did most of the damage at the plate: Newton went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs, while Gay went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Newton a new career-high. Kaitlynn Miller was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Quincy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in four consecutive games.

Quincy pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Maxwell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

Quincy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maxwell, they will challenge Hamilton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
