Softball Recap: Weeki Wachee Falls Short of Dunnellon in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Weeki Wachee can now relate to. They fell just short of the Dunnellon Tigers by a score of 6-5 on Tuesday. The Hornets' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Austyn Childs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Reegan Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Weeki Wachee's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Dunnellon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-13.

Weeki Wachee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dunnellon, they will take on Crystal River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
