Basketball Recap: Freeburg Triumphs

After losing to Roxana the last time they met, Freeburg decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Freeburg Midgets came out on top against the Roxana Shells by a score of 49-39 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Midgets.

Matt Pluff had a dynamite game for Freeburg, going 8 of 9 en route to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Brentlinger, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Freeburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Roxana still got an impressive performance from Sean Maberry, who put up 20 points. Cohen Dugan was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Freeburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Roxana, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Freeburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-46 loss against Meridian on the 18th. As for Roxana, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-56 win against Father McGivney Catholic on the 20th.
