Basketball Game Preview: Tri Titans vs. Waldron Mohawks

The Tri Titans will square off against the Waldron Mohawks at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Waldron is facing Tri at the wrong time: Tri suffered their first home loss of the season on Thursday and they're likely out for redemption. They took a 63-44 bruising from the Eagles. The Titans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Waldron was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 59-54 to North Decatur.

Tri will need to focus on slowing down Eli Stewart, one of several Waldron players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 11 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds. What's more, Stewart also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Lucas Shaw was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Tri, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Tri came up short against Waldron in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 60-56. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Shaw, who went 5 of 9 to rack up 22 points and three steals.
